Confluence storage limits: Free 2 GB, Standard 250 GB, Premium unlimited
Confluence Cloud gives each site a storage allowance that depends on the plan: 2 GB on Free, 250 GB on Standard, and unlimited on Premium and Enterprise. Separately, a single attachment can be up to 100 MB by default.
Storage by plan
| Confluence Cloud plan | File storage |
|---|---|
| Free (up to 10 users) | 2 GB |
| Standard | 250 GB |
| Premium | Unlimited |
| Enterprise | Unlimited (everything in Premium) |
Sources: Atlassian Support, manage your storage usage and Confluence Cloud plans, which says Enterprise gets everything in Premium. These limits are for Confluence Cloud; Data Center runs on your own servers.
What counts toward the limit
Atlassian says all pages, live docs, attachments, files and comments take up storage. Atlassian suggests removing the biggest attachments and files first. Archiving a page doesn't free any storage, because Confluence keeps its files for version history; to free space, delete the attachments or the pages themselves.
How to check your usage
You need to be a Confluence admin. Go to admin.atlassian.com, choose your site, then Site settings, then Storage. You'll see how much each app uses and how much is left, unless the plan is unlimited. The figures update only every 4 hours.
What happens when you reach the limit
You'll need to upgrade to a higher plan or remove content. If you don't act within Atlassian's time frame, which its docs don't specify, your team won't be able to edit or create spaces, pages, live pages, whiteboards and other content.
Attachment size limit
Each file is capped separately: the default maximum for a single attachment is 100 MB. A Confluence admin can change it under the settings wheel, Settings, Configuration, General configuration, Attachment settings (Atlassian Support).
If storage is pushing you to Premium
Premium costs about twice as much per user as Standard (see the Confluence Cloud price increase), so moving up for storage alone can be expensive. Clearing old attachments first is free. If you're weighing other options, our guide to Confluence Data Center end of life covers the main ones.
Tablewide hosts Docmost, the open source wiki, at one price for your whole company: $49 a month with 25 GB, $99 with 100 GB, or $199 with 500 GB, all with unlimited users. If you're near Standard's 250 GB, the $199 plan is the one that fits. A free preview needs no card and is deleted after 7 days unless you subscribe.
