Confluence Standard vs Premium: what Premium adds, and is it worth it?
Confluence Premium costs $14.10 per user a month and Standard costs $7.15, for teams of up to 100 billed monthly, so Premium roughly doubles the bill. Atlassian lists what the extra pays for: unlimited storage, a 99.9% uptime SLA, 24/7 support, usage analytics, sandboxes, release tracks, IP allowlisting and a larger AI allowance. Check whether your team actually needs any of them. Below are the full list, the price gap by team size, and who actually needs it.
What Premium adds over Standard
Atlassian's plans overview says Premium includes everything in Standard, plus the following:
| Standard | Premium | |
|---|---|---|
| File storage | 250 GB | Unlimited |
| Uptime SLA | None listed | 99.9% |
| Support | Standard support, 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday in your time zone | 24/7 Premium support |
| AI (Rovo) | Included, 25 credits per user a month | Higher usage quotas, 70 credits per user a month |
| Analytics | Not listed | Usage across the site, total and unique views of spaces and pages, and who has viewed the latest updates |
| Automation | Not listed | Automation to organise spaces and send reminders |
| Team calendars | Not listed | Included |
| Bulk archive of pages | Archive content items | Bulk archive |
| Permission inspection | Not listed | See who can view, edit or comment on a page |
| Admin key (bypass page restrictions) | Not listed | Included |
| Sandboxes and release tracks | Not listed | Manage product sandboxes and release tracks |
| IP allowlisting | Not listed | Included |
| Infrastructure for 5,000+ concurrent users | Not listed | Included |
"Not listed" means Atlassian's plans overview doesn't list it under Standard; Standard may include a limited version, so check with Atlassian if you depend on it. Rovo credit allowances are from Atlassian's Rovo usage limits page. Both plans include audit logs, archiving, public links and data residency, according to the same overview. Atlassian offers single sign-on and user provisioning (SSO, SCIM) on either plan through a separate Atlassian Guard Standard subscription.

US dollar list prices before tax, from Atlassian's licensing price table, effective October 13, 2026. Monthly prices are per user ($7.15 Standard, $14.10 Premium for users 1 to 100); yearly prices are Atlassian's published amounts for each user step. Over 100 users, both plans get cheaper per user; every band is on our Confluence pricing page.
Who actually needs Premium
Premium is worth paying for if one of these is a real requirement, not a nice-to-have:
- You need an uptime commitment. Premium's 99.9% SLA comes with compensation if Atlassian misses it; Standard has no SLA listed. If your contracts or your own customers require one, Standard won't do.
- You need help outside office hours. Standard support runs 9am to 5pm on weekdays in your time zone; Premium's is 24/7.
- You're past 250 GB of attachments. Our storage limits guide shows how to check how much you use.
- Security policy asks for IP allowlisting, or you need to see who can view or edit a page.
- You test changes before they reach everyone, using sandboxes and release tracks.
- You lean on Rovo AI and run out of Standard's monthly credits.
- You rely on team calendars, automation or page analytics. Atlassian's plans overview lists these under Premium.
- You have thousands of people using Confluence at once; Atlassian suggests Premium above 5,000 users with more than half active at the same time.
If none of these apply, Standard covers the wiki itself: spaces, pages, permissions, audit logs, archiving and public links. Atlassian lets you try Premium before paying for it: on a monthly subscription the trial runs for the rest of the current billing cycle and the next one, and on a yearly subscription it lasts 30 days. SLA compensation doesn't start until the trial ends.
Or step off per-user pricing
If your question is really "why does the bill keep growing", the plan isn't the only lever. Tablewide runs Docmost, an open source wiki, for your whole company at one flat price with unlimited users: $49 (Team, 25 GB), $99 (Business, 100 GB) or $199 (Company, 500 GB) a month. At 25 users that's $49 on Team (25 GB), or $99 on Business if you need more storage, against $178.75 on Standard and $352.50 on Premium.
To be clear about what we don't have:
- No SLA. Our terms (section 11.3) offer no service level agreement or service credits. We aim to keep the service available around the clock, but that is a target, not a commitment.
- Support is by email. We aim to reply within one business day; that is a target, not a commitment. Support is AI-assisted.
- Sign-in is through Google accounts only today, with no SAML SSO or IP allowlisting.
- It isn't Confluence. Access is set per space rather than per page, and there's no Jira integration, Marketplace, team calendars, sandboxes or usage analytics. The wiki itself has no AI features, so there's nothing like Rovo.
- Less storage at the top. Our largest plan has 500 GB, not unlimited.
When you subscribe, we move your Confluence spaces in at no extra charge, on a best-efforts basis; comments, page history and permissions don't come across from a Confluence export, and formatting, macros and attachments may not transfer exactly. Our Confluence migration guide has the step-by-step plan, and Confluence alternatives for small teams compares other options. Keep your Confluence site and a backup export until you've checked the new wiki.
The free preview puts one Confluence space into a private Docmost wiki for 7 days, with no card. Through the form, we aim to have your preview ready within two business days of your upload, on a best-efforts basis. The preview terms say where your export is stored and when it's deleted.
